October 21, 2020:
I had the opportunity to do the Holiday Mesa hike this weekend and noticed a sign at the Gilman Tunnels gate that said “No automobiles between FS 376 and the river.” I called up the Jemez Ranger office on Monday to find out what the sign meant. The lady who answered said that it means that people cannot attempt to drive down to river on an old logging road. It is perfectly legal to park along the road to do this hike.
October 12, 2019:
The Forest Service closed the access road (FS 376) to Holiday Mesa early this year to repair a culvert. The road will not reopen until April. In the meantime, there are plenty of other hikes in the book for you to enjoy.
