Since the 3rd edition of the 60 Hikes book was published, the National Park Service has erected a wire rope barrier to better direct you to the petroglyphs. The Park Service has also opened a path to the top of mesa at both ends to give you the option of a loop hike. No matter how you do it, Piedras Marcadas is a great place for nice easy hike in Albuquerque. Here’s a picture of the rope barrier and the trail going to the top of the mesa.

On page 52 there is a reference to the “U.S. Eagle Plaza” being the tallest building off in the distance in downtown Albuquerque. The building is now in the process of changing its name to “WaFd Bank Plaza.”
